FOIA Request to Maricopa County Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.
As a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at PHX Reporter have sent a request under the Arizona Public Records Law § 39.101 et seq., for records of pre-election voting machine test reports.
Our request specifically seeks these records in an electronic format, preferably as PDFs, with details such as the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and the status of the machine (whether it passed or failed the test).
We believe that access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we consider ourselves eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a response from Maricopa County and will continue to strive towards delivering reliable news coverage about local government affairs.
