Banner - University Medicine has opened enrollment for Camp Scrubs 2024, scheduled for this summer. The camp, which emphasizes nursing and healthcare careers, will run from June 10 to June 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Camp Scrubs is designed for middle school students entering the 7th or 8th grade in the fall who are interested in science, technology, teaching, and helping others. These skills are essential for pursuing a nursing career. Registration is open to the public with limited spaces available at a cost of $400.

Hosted by Banner Health registered nurses, the camp offers students the chance to explore various nursing roles through activities such as shadowing nurses on patient care units and observing medical departments that support nursing.

“Careers in nursing provide wonderful opportunities to care for patients in a wide variety of settings, including hospitals, schools, homes, clinics, helicopters, and in disaster locations,” said Melissa Davis, director of adult nursing at Banner – University Medical Center Tucson. “Nurses have opportunities to work anywhere in the country.”

The event aims to give campers a deeper understanding of each healthcare team's role in providing patient care.
