Banner Imaging has introduced a new program in collaboration with HeartFlow to help patients detect coronary blockages earlier than traditional imaging methods. This initiative uses a non-invasive procedure where patients undergo an imaging test. The data from this test is used to create a color-coded 3D model of the patient's coronary arteries, with red indicating more blockage and blue representing healthier arteries.

Dr. Mohammad Khan, Chief Medical Officer at Banner Imaging, stated, “The beauty of HeartFlow’s program is that it helps patients avoid more invasive procedures, like cardiac catheterization.” He emphasized that doctors can now obtain the same information through HeartFlow's data as they would from cardiac catheterization but in a less invasive manner. Dr. Khan noted that this method is not only convenient for patients but also reduces risks associated with invasive procedures and is cost-effective.

Dr. Khan mentioned that individuals with a family history of heart disease or symptoms such as chest pain might benefit significantly from this procedure. Currently, the HeartFlow service is available at seven Banner Imaging locations: Paseo 2 in Glendale, New River Trails, Peoria, Arcadia, Ocotillo, East Mesa, and Talking Stick.

“We cannot wait to support our cardiac patients through a more seamless imaging process,” added Dr. Khan.

HeartFlow is acknowledged by the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association Chest Pain Guidelines as a valuable tool for guiding treatment in heart disease cases.
