Arizona's poison control centers have issued a warning regarding "Diamond Shruumz" products after a series of adverse health incidents. These products, which include chocolate bars and gummies infused with mushrooms for microdosing, have been linked to seizures, unconsciousness, and hospitalizations.
Steve Dudley, PharmD, DABAT, Director of the Arizona Poison and Drug Information Center, expressed concern over the products' effects. "While these products claim to contain only natural ingredients and no scheduled drugs, there is clearly something toxic occurring," he stated. Cases have also been reported in Nebraska, Utah, and Indiana. The center is collaborating with the FDA to prevent further illnesses.
Maureen Roland, RN, Director of the Banner Poison and Drug Information Center in Phoenix, urged caution: “We are urging the public to use extreme caution due to the very serious effects of these products.”
Healthcare professionals are encouraged to report any related cases they encounter. This will support efforts between poison centers and health agencies at various levels to assess the situation.
