Since becoming head coach, Jonathan Gannon has emphasized the importance of having quality players on the practice squad. On Wednesday, the Arizona Cardinals bolstered their squad by signing outside linebacker Ronnie Perkins, cornerback Keion Crossen, and offensive lineman Nick Leverett.
Perkins, who once played alongside Kyler Murray at Oklahoma, has appeared in seven NFL games. Last season with Denver, he recorded 13 tackles and two tackles for loss along with a quarterback hit. Drafted in 2021's third round, Perkins spent his rookie year on injured reserve before joining the Patriots' practice squad for all of 2022.
A month ago, Julian Okwara was added to the Cardinals' practice squad and later elevated to their active roster as an outside linebacker.
Crossen missed the entire 2023 season due to a shoulder injury. Since entering the league in 2018, he has contributed both as a cornerback and special teams player with stints at the Patriots, Texans, and Dolphins. Crossen has started six games and made 118 tackles.
Leverett was released by New England earlier this week after playing five games for them. The interior lineman began his career as an undrafted free agent with Tampa Bay in 2020.
