Reflecting on the past month since his suspension, Zay Jones described the experience as "different and unique." The wide receiver was suspended before the season opener for violating the league's personal conduct policy, sidelining him for five games. His suspension ended Monday, but due to a hamstring injury, he will miss Sunday's game against the Packers. The Cardinals plan to reintegrate him into the roster next week.

Jones chose not to discuss his reaction to the suspension or private conversations about it. He stated that discussing it would be "doing this team and the people around me that have supported me a disservice to go backwards."

Despite missing this weekend's game at Lambeau Field, Jones and the Cardinals are preparing for his return to the offense. Signed in May after being released by the Jaguars, Jones spent time building rapport with quarterback Kyler Murray and teammates during the offseason. Familiarity existed between Murray and Jones due to their Texas roots.

Murray expressed confidence in Jones' abilities: "Zay's played a lot of football... I don't think (time off) will be an issue with Zay."

Jones is expected to be a versatile addition to Murray's offense. At 6-foot-2, he can play multiple positions on the field. While he did not predict how his presence will impact the team, he emphasized readiness when called upon.

During his suspension, Jones maintained fitness through swimming, biking, running hills, and sprints. Coach Jonathan Gannon acknowledged that returning from such a break requires adjustment: "You've got to get your sea legs back a little bit."

Even while suspended, Jones was allowed at team facilities for meetings but could not practice or watch practices. Gannon noted that this helped Jones acclimate back into the program.

"I'm grateful," said Jones about being allowed back in team activities. He appreciated being embraced by teammates within allowed limits.

The past seven weeks were challenging for Jones but provided introspection opportunities. His focus now is on contributing positively to future games.

"It's been hard... So to have that behind me now and look forward to positive things... is what I look forward to," he said.
