The Arizona Cardinals' running backs have embraced a motto instilled by coach Autry Denson: B.Y.O.B., which stands for Be Your Own Blocker. This approach is embodied by James Conner, who has shown impressive performance on the field. According to Pro Football Focus, Conner averages 3.26 yards per carry after contact this season, following his league-leading 3.93 yards last year.
Conner's impact was evident during the Cardinals' recent game against the San Francisco 49ers. He played a crucial role in securing the game-winning drive, amassing 86 yards on 19 carries and forcing nine missed tackles. "It was one of those moments when I wanted to be the one to get us marching down the field," Conner stated.
Quarterback Kyler Murray acknowledged Conner's importance, saying, "I've played with him for multiple years now, I kind of know when it's that time … We knew we had to get him going."
Coach Jonathan Gannon expressed confidence in Conner's abilities: "I have full trust in James... He's an asset that we have that not a lot of people have." Gannon praised Conner for his contributions both on and off the field.
In other team news, the Cardinals released veteran wide receiver Chris Moore and designated defensive lineman Darius Robinson to return from injured reserve. The team also re-signed offensive lineman Austen Pleasants to their practice squad.
