The Phoenix Mercury has announced the completion of its 2024 training camp roster with the addition of guard Air Hearn and centers Bella Murekatete and Desi-Rae Young. Training camp is set to commence on April 28.
Air Hearn, a former University of Memphis standout, was a three-time All-American Athletic Conference selection from 2012 to 2016. She holds records for most three-pointers made and ranks fourth in assists at Memphis. Recently, she concluded her third season with Athletes Unlimited Basketball, boasting averages of 18 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game.
Bella Murekatete brings her skills as a center from Washington State where she averaged 10.1 points and 6.5 rebounds over five years. Murekatete is recognized as the all-time leader in rebounds, blocks, games played at Washington State, and ranks fifth in career points. A native of Rwanda, she also represented her national team in the FIBA Women’s Basketball Afrobasket qualifier in 2021.
Desi-Rae Young completed her collegiate career at UNLV as one of only two players in program history to surpass both 2,000 career points and 1,000 rebounds. She ranked second on the Lady Rebels’ all-time scoring list and achieved significant stats during the 2023-24 season.
The Mercury's first game of the new season will be against the Las Vegas Aces on May 14, aired nationally on ESPN2. Their home opener is scheduled for May 18 against the Atlanta Dream.
