PVCC's Psi Beta chapter receives national award for excellence

Paradise Valley Community College’s (PVCC) Psi Beta Chapter has been awarded the Chapter Excellence Award for the 2023-2024 cycle. Chapter advisors Adam Berry and Thomas Schmidt have dedicated numerous hours to mentoring Psi Beta members, providing essential support and guidance.

"Please join me in congratulating Tom and Adam on this well-deserved recognition. We are deeply grateful for their hard work and commitment to our students,” said Dr. Jana Schwartz, PVCC President.

Psi Beta is the national honor society in psychology for community colleges and a member of the Association of College Honor Societies (ACHS). Its mission is to foster the professional development of psychology students at community colleges by promoting and recognizing excellence in scholarship, leadership, research, and community service.

Established in 2017, PVCC’s Psi Beta chapter organizes various activities benefiting the college, the community, and students beyond Psi Beta. To join Psi Beta, students must meet specific requirements:

- Enrolled at PVCC

- Completed one college psychology course with a grade of B or higher

- Completed 12 units of college coursework with a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher

- Demonstrated interest in psychology
