The Maricopa County Parks and Recreation Department is undertaking a three-year park master plan project aimed at comprehensive improvements and preservation efforts for nine parks across Maricopa County. The Park Master Plans will serve as a strategic guide for the future of the parks' recreational facilities, open spaces, and opportunities over the next 10-15 years.
The initiative seeks to develop master plans for three separate parks each year, emphasizing community input to ensure all voices are heard. "Your input is invaluable as we strategically examine the community's vision, existing parks, services, facilities, and resources to assess future parks, recreation, and open space needs," stated a department representative.
The Park Master Plans aim to:
- Identify capital improvement goals to evaluate fiscal requirements and funding needs
- Guide critical decisions about parks, recreation facilities, open space, infrastructure, programs, and services
- Develop recommendations and an implementation strategy
The parks scheduled for updates include:
- Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area
- Cave Creek Regional Park
- McDowell Mountain Regional Park
- Estrella Mountain Regional Park
- Lake Pleasant Regional Park
- Buckeye Hills Regional Park
- White Tank Mountain Regional Park
- Usery Mountain Regional Park
- San Tan Mountain Regional Park
