The Maricopa County Board of Supervisors has allocated over $1.8 million in Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) to fund community improvements in El Mirage, Gila Bend, and Guadalupe. These grants, benefiting over 2,000 residents, aim to revitalize neighborhoods and enhance the quality of life for the communities involved.

Maricopa County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jack Sellers expressed the county's commitment to improving residents' quality of life by stating, “These grants will create a safer and healthier environment for our neighbors in these communities that have the greatest need.”

According to Supervisor Steve Gallardo of District 5, "This funding will play an important role in improving Gila Bend’s water quality and prioritizing community safety and security in Guadalupe, among other things."

The funding awards for the projects are as follows:

- City of El Mirage: $820,000

- Town of Gila Bend: $497,000

- Town of Guadalupe: $493,600

The City of El Mirage will focus on improving wastewater flow and reducing health risks by replacing sewer service lines and refurbishing manholes. Meanwhile, the Town of Gila Bend plans to enhance drinking water quality by replacing existing waterlines with a new PVC pipe. The Town of Guadalupe aims to revitalize a neighborhood by installing enhanced lighting for greater safety and security.

Funding for these initiatives is provided by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and administered by the Maricopa County Human Services Department.
