There were 7,329 Latino students enrolled in Deer Valley Unified District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 4% more than the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Data showed that Deer Valley Unified District welcomed 33,185 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, Latino students comprised 22.1% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the district.

Deer Valley Unified District roughly covers schools within Maricopa County and has a main office in Phoenix.

Among the 41 schools in Deer Valley Unified District, Barry Goldwater High School recorded the highest enrollment of Latino students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 704 students.

In 2022 Arizona had roughly one teacher for every 19 students, compared to the national average of one teacher for 16 students. Teachers handling a higher number of students was found to have negative consequences for students’ school performance.
