Enrollment at Balsz Elementary District schools decreased by 5.1% compared to previous school year

There were 2,139 students enrolled in Balsz Elementary District schools in the 2022-23 school year, 5.1% less than the 2,255 in the previous year, according to the Arizona Department of Education.

Out of the total students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 53.7% of them were boys, and 46.3% were girls.

Data also showed that most of the students were Latino, representing 61.6% of the Balsz Elementary District total enrollment.

Balsz Elementary District roughly covers schools within Maricopa County and has a main office in Phoenix.

Among the five schools in Balsz Elementary District, Pat Tillman Middle School recorded the highest enrollment of 652 students in the 2022-23 school year.

WalletHub claimed Arizona’s school system ranked among the worst across U.S. for class size, performance, funding, safety, and instructors’ credentials.

A 2023 study from Scholaroo.com ranked Arizona last out of all U.S. states in terms of educational success, giving the state poor marks for school quality, student success, and teacher-to-student ratio.
