On June 20, 1990, Motorcycle Officer Patrick O. Briggs was killed while pursuing a speeding motorist. Officer Briggs swerved to avoid a motorist and struck a concrete median and tree. Officer Briggs was twenty-seven years old at the time of death and had been a member of the department for seven years. He was survived by his parents.
