Arizona Diamondbacks CEO Derrick Hall isn’t bashful about his feelings when it comes to the failed lockout negotiations.
Hall’s disappointment comes after Rob Manfred, the Baseball Commissioner canceled 93 more games. This seems to close the chance to play a 162-game schedule which is threatening to lock out players and could shorten salary and service time, according to 12 News.
“Today’s news was very sad to me,” Hall said, according to 12 News. “We’re missing our first homestand. We’re going to lose home games. That’s a crushing blow.”
According to 12 News, the canceled games equal 7.6% of the season. The economic turmoil of the games lost will be felt by many in Arizona, as many businesses rely on spring training for income.
“We’re going to get out there, and they’ll be working real soon If it’s two and a half weeks, three weeks, or four weeks? Probably not,” Hall said talking about a possible shortened training period for the team, according to 12 News.
According to Hall, the biggest weight is felt by baseball fans, according to 12 News.
“It’s not a good time for any of this,” Hall said, according to 12 News. "I’m sad by all of this. We need to make sure we get back to the table. Enough is enough.”
