Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell has announced the sentencing of Noel Jesus Gordillo to 20 years in prison for the murder of Christopher Gonzales. The crime occurred in early 2023, with sentencing delivered following Gordillo's conviction.

The incident took place on March 5, 2023, when authorities responded to several emergency calls reporting an injured person. Upon arrival, officers found Gonzales dead at a business near 28th Drive and Cactus Road. Surveillance footage revealed Gordillo riding a bicycle to the location, confronting Gonzales, and firing a shot that proved fatal.

Despite Gonzales's attempts to get help, he died shortly after sustaining the injury. Investigative efforts using video evidence, witness accounts, and emergency call data led to Gordillo’s arrest on March 15, 2023.

At the time of the incident, Gordillo was noted to have a criminal record, including two previous prison sentences and six felony convictions.

County Attorney Mitchell stated, “This criminal has proven again that he cannot live in our community and must be incarcerated. To the family and friends of the victim, my heart goes out to them; I hope this sentence gives them peace of mind in knowing this criminal will not be back out on the streets for years, serving time for the pain and damage he has caused.”

Noel Jesus Gordillo will serve his sentence under an order of confinement.
