Senator Ruben Gallego recently utilized his Twitter platform to express concerns about military leadership, advocate for housing affordability for teachers and first responders, and address the pressing issues related to extreme heat in urban areas.

On March 27, 2025, Senator Gallego shared his views regarding military leadership by criticizing Pete Hegseth’s qualifications, claiming that his leadership is not only "embarrassing" but also poses risks. "Pete Hegseth was never qualified to lead our troops. He's proving it right now." The tweet underscores the senator's strong disapproval of Hegseth's credentials in this context.

In another tweet posted the same day, Senator Gallego addressed the financial struggles faced by teachers and first responders, advocating for policies aimed at easing their home-buying process. "Teachers and first responders shouldn’t need a second or third job just to afford a home." He announced his backing of legislation aimed at eliminating upfront costs and mortgage insurance premiums to make homes more affordable for these professions.

Later on March 27, the senator highlighted climate issues by pointing out unusual temperature hikes, referencing a record high in March and the resultant public health crisis in Maricopa County. "99 degrees in March. That’s not normal." He is introducing the Excess Urban Heat Mitigation Act designed to assist cities in combating extreme heat by allocating funding for cooling centers.
