Republic Services has announced the winners of its 2025 ROAD-EO National Championship, an event held biennially in Phoenix to honor the company's top collection drivers, equipment operators, and technicians from North America. This year, 107 finalists from 36 states and Ontario participated in the competition.

The event featured ten categories showcasing the skills and safety performance of Republic Services employees. Gregg Brummer, chief operating officer, emphasized the importance of safety: "Safety is our top priority at Republic Services," he said. "The ROAD-EO National Championship is a celebration of our frontline drivers, operators and technicians. Their expertise and commitment to safety are what make Republic an industry leader, and we are extremely proud to recognize the best-of-the-best."

Collection truck drivers competed in five categories: Small Container, Rear-Load, Side-Load, Large Container, and a new category for 2025, Vac Truck. The competition involved navigating a timed course with challenges like parallel parking and alley backing.

Equipment operators took part in Bulldozer, Wheel Loader, and Forklift categories. They maneuvered through precision obstacle courses to complete skill-based challenges. Technicians competed by diagnosing maintenance issues on trucks or bulldozers within a limited time.

Several winners have previously been finalists or champions in past competitions. CJ Hines and David Muns defended their titles from 2023. Geno Rushing and Conrad Lacanlale returned as finalists from 2023 to win this year.

To qualify for the championship, participants had to succeed in local and regional contests while maintaining perfect safety records. Winners received cash prizes and additional paid time off. All competitors enjoyed an expenses-paid trip to Phoenix with luxury accommodations.
