Phoenix Children's Hospital has announced the upcoming retirement of its long-serving President and CEO, Robert L. Meyer. Meyer, who has been at the helm for 22 years, will step down in the summer of 2025. He played a pivotal role in transforming Phoenix Children's from a hospital-within-a-hospital to a multi-campus system serving numerous children and families annually.

Reflecting on his tenure, Meyer stated, "I am deeply grateful for the privilege of leading this incredible health system and for the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated and talented individuals, and our patient families." He expressed confidence in the continued success of Phoenix Children's.

Under Meyer's leadership, Phoenix Children's expanded its clinical services significantly. The organization now boasts over 50 service sites, 75 sub-specialties, more than 8,000 employees, and a thriving Research Institute. Key developments during his time include constructing the Thomas Campus tower and opening new community hospitals and emergency departments.

The Board of Directors will soon start a national search for Meyer's successor. Michael Ebert, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Phoenix Children’s said, “We are deeply grateful to Bob for his visionary leadership and dedication to Phoenix Children’s and our community."

A special event is planned in 2025 to honor Meyer's contributions. Further details will be shared with the community later.
