John Groesbeck has been appointed senior vice president of acute care operations for Banner Health’s Arizona community hospitals, according to an announcement made by Banner Health today.

Groesbeck has served as the chief financial officer over Banner’s Arizona community hospitals for the past seven years. He brings over 23 years of experience in health care finances and administration to his new role.

“John has been an unwavering financial leader, having made a great impact on community delivery and the entire system,” said Todd Werner, president of acute care delivery for Banner Health. “Through his extensive health care experience, he has developed a unique blend of deep operational and financial insights that enable him to successfully navigate today’s health care complexities.”

Groesbeck joined Banner in 2017 after serving six years as a finance officer for Kaiser Permanente in California and ten years as chief financial officer at St. Luke’s Health System in Idaho. Before these roles, he worked for Deloitte and Touche accounting firm in Idaho. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a focus on accounting and finance from Idaho State University.

Banner Health is one of the largest secular nonprofit health care systems in the United States. The organization operates 33 hospitals, an academic medicine division called Banner – University Medicine, and Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center through a partnership with MD Anderson Cancer Center.
