North Canyon High School and PVSchools are pleased to announce that Yarieliz Lopez has been recognized as the 2024 Youth of the Year by the Boys and Girls Club of Arizona: Ed Robson Family Branch. According to the organization, Yari is a student who embodies resilience, confidence, and personal growth despite facing numerous challenges in her life.

Yarieliz Lopez, a student at North Canyon, is actively engaged in the school's fine arts programs and is passionate about theater. She uses her talents in music and acting as a means of self-expression and connecting with peers who share similar interests. The fine arts have played a crucial role in helping Yarieliz discover her identity following significant life changes in 2019. As she aptly puts it, "I am not giving away my shot," echoing a sentiment from the musical Hamilton that resonates with her journey.

Looking ahead, Yarieliz plans to pursue further studies in fine arts and enlist in the military, where she is determined to excel. Her remarkable achievements, personal growth, and ambitious aspirations are testaments to why she has been bestowed with the title of Youth of the Year.

For students interested in exploring how fine arts can serve as a channel for creativity and building connections, PVSchools encourages them to explore the opportunities available in their fine arts programs.
