U.S. Congressional candidate Blake Masters (R-AZ-8) said that "everything costs more under" President Joe Biden, following a Grand Canyon Times report showing the increase in grocery prices at Fry's Food Stores since 2020.
"Everything costs more under Joe Biden’s failed presidency," Masters told PHX Reporter. "In Arizona it’s now literally three times more expensive to feed your kids breakfast than it used to be."
"I can’t wait to help President Trump re-implement America First economic policies so we can have a healthy economy again," said Masters.
The cost of cereal in Arizona has increased by 303% since 2020, according to an analysis of Fry’s Food Stores' grocery ads by Grand Canyon Times.
A 12 oz. box of Post® cereal at the supermarket chain cost $3.99 as of February 6, 2024, which is $3.00 more than the $0.99 for the same size box of cereal on February 2, 2020.
That marks a total increase of 303% for cereal since 2020 at Fry’s, outpacing the supposed 2.7% inflation rate for food for the last year, as reported by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS).
Masters is one of five candidates currently running in the Republican primary to represent the 8th Congressional District. The district is currently represented by U.S. Rep. Debbie Lesko (R), who announced last year that she will be retiring at the end of the current term.
