Sen. Shawnna Bolick (R-Phoenix) said our “communities are in peril from the millions” of illegal aliens who have crossed the Arizona-Mexico border since 2021.

12,081 illegal aliens from 48 separate countries were apprehended in the Tucson Sector of the border last week, reported Tucson Standard

“Biden's border invasion has seeped into the streets of north Phoenix and into my constituent's neighborhoods at an alarming rate over the past few years,” Bolick told PHX Reporter. “With the lack of leadership at the top at Phoenix City Hall and the surge of illegals flooding our southern border, there is also a rise in burglaries across the Valley.”

“Our law enforcement resources are outnumbered, and our communities are in peril from the millions of people who have entered our country illegally since Biden took office,” Bolick said. “We're experiencing numerous horrific crimes on a daily basis, like child sex trafficking, human smuggling, rapes, murders, and deadly fentanyl destroying our communities.”

In addition to illegal alien apprehensions, the U.S. Border Patrol reported 23 human smuggling events last week, which makes 66 such events reported during the past three weeks in the Tucson Sector.

Legislation sponsored by Bolick, SCR 1021,  proposes a referendum to amend the Arizona Constitution to allow voters to authorize a “natural life” prison sentence with no parole for individuals convicted of child sex trafficking.

A companion bill, HCR 2042, was introduced in the Arizona House by State Rep. Selina Bliss (R-Prescott).

Bolick has represented Arizona’s 2nd State Senate District since August 2023, when she was appointed by the Maricopa County Board of Advisors to fill the seat vacated by retiring State Sen. Steve Kaiser (R-Phoenix).

She previously represented District 20 in the Arizona House of Representatives from 2019 to 2023. Bolick also served on the Arizona State Board of Education’s Academic Standards Development Committee and was appointed to Arizona’s Early Childhood Education and Health Board by former Gov. Doug Ducey (R-Ariz.)

Bolick attended Syracuse University and received a master’s degree from American University.

A native of Pittsburgh, Penn., Bolick lives in Phoenix with her husband.
