This month, Councilman DiCiccio and his peers are emphasizing the importance of public access to fishing and recreational locations. They say that this should be a priority for the city, and that it brings many benefits to residents of Phoenix.
The City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department installed a covered fishing dock at Papago Park on Sept. 29, 2022, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). There are many fishing docks in the area, but not many of them are handicap accessible or compliant with the ADA guidelines.
This dock was built by the Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department, DiCiccio, and The Mission Continues. The location of the dock is 625 N. Galvin Parkway.
According to a press release, DiCiccio said, “I am proud to have worked with our City and other partners to expand accessibility in meaningful ways for our residents, and I encourage you to come check out the new dock!"
Parks and Recreation Director Cynthia Aguilar said, “This unique dock will help ensure people of all abilities can enjoy all that Papago Park has to offer. It is a small step toward our goal to provide all residents with access to recreation amenities."
