Phoenix Police Officer Tyler Moldovan, 22, returned home after just over five months after being shot multiple times.
The shooting originally occurred in December while the officer was investigating an erratic driver.
"WELCOME HOME OFFICER TYLER MOLDOVAN! A little over 5 months ago, Officer Tyler Moldovan was shot multiple times while on duty. Since then, he's been in an out-of-state rehab facility. Today, he returned home. The ENTIRE department couldn't be more proud of you, Tyler!" The Phoenix Police Department said in a post to its Twitter account on June 2 to celebrate Tyler's recovery.
Locals also expressed their relief at the officer's recovery.
"We are just so grateful for a miracle from God. We’re thankful that he made it. He has a long road to recovery most likely. The fact that he is home -- we need good valuable cops like that out there, and we’re so grateful for his service," Steve Cameron, who lives near the Moldovans, said according to Fox10.
"We’re just happy for him. We are happy that he survived and we're praying for all the officers on the road right now. We’re grateful for these men and women that are out there," Cameron said.
"The Moldovan family is so appreciative for the support they have received," the police department said in a statement according to Fox10. "They ask for privacy once they arrive home, as Officer Moldovan continues on the road of recovery."
