Midwestern University employee Lilibeth Lopez donates $1,361 to Bernard Sanders' campaign

Lilibeth Lopez, an employee at Midwestern University, donated $1,361 to Democratic Party candidate Bernard Sanders, according to the Federal Election Commission.

According to records, there have been $7,615 in campaign contributions made by individuals affiliated with Midwestern University as of November 3. Approximately 94.1 percent, or $7,165, of these contributions were made to Democratic Party candidates and committees.

Nilam Patel's contribution of $2,000 to Democratic Party Hiral Vyas Tipirneni was the largest contribution made by someone affiliated with Midwestern University since January 1, 2019.

According to an Inside Higher Ed analysis of federal elections data, individuals that were affiliated with colleges and universities have donated five times more money to Joe Biden than to President Trump. A study by Pew Research in 2017 found that 58 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents thought colleges and universities have a negative impact on the way things are going in this country.
