Phoenix Water Services is doing its part to ensure the safety of its staff by disinfecting N95 and surgical masks with ultraviolet light.
The process allows workers to reuse the masks.
“Our staff working at the Pay Station locations come in contact with residents throughout the day, and they must have the proper PPE,” Jennifer Calles, Deputy Water Services Director, to the City of Phoenix newsroom.
Phoenix Water uses UV light as a part of its daily functions and has created a process to properly sanitize the masks and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
Workers take extra precautions throughout the process including wearing personal protection equipment and disinfecting all work surfaces. The mask owner bears the responsibility of marking their mask with their name, as well as the paper bag which will carry their used mask.
The mask will then undergo the thorough sanitizing process and be ready for another round of work.
