Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell recently announced the sentencing of a woman involved in vandalizing cars belonging to pro-Palestinian protesters in Phoenix. The January 2024 incident occurred outside an event at a synagogue. Surveillance footage captured Lisa Karlovsky and another individual defacing vehicles with derogatory messages and symbols, including the Star of David. Damage was estimated at nearly $45,000 for over ten cars.

Karlovsky pleaded guilty to one count of criminal damage, classified as a class four felony, and received an 18-month supervised probation sentence. Her co-defendant, Bryan Long, who pleaded guilty to the same charge, was sentenced to 12 months of supervised probation in December.

“We're lucky to live in a country where we're free to disagree and hold different beliefs. But when those differences lead someone to cross over into breaking the law, they will be held accountable,” stated Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell.
