Maricopa County officials, in collaboration with the City of Buckeye and other partners, marked the grand opening of Solana Villas on Thursday. The new affordable housing development is located in the West Valley.
“The opening of Solana Villas is a major win for District 5 and Maricopa County,” stated Supervisor Gallardo. “It’s more than just a new community – it shows the Board’s commitment to meeting the affordable housing needs of County families in rapidly expanding areas. This project represents our ongoing dedication to ensuring everyone has access to an affordable place they can call home.”
The county allocated $2 million from federal American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds for the construction of Solana Villas, which is situated at W MC 85 and Miller Roads. The development comprises 200 rental units ranging from one to three bedrooms, with sizes between 707 and 1,207 square feet. Each unit includes kitchen appliances such as a dishwasher, microwave, refrigerator, and range/oven, along with features like central air conditioning, blinds, ceiling fans, and walk-in closets.
Solana Villas targets households earning at or below 60% of Maricopa County's Area Median Income (AMI) throughout its 20-year affordability period. The gated community offers amenities including a clubhouse, central laundry facilities, fitness center, picnic areas, carports, playgrounds, swimming pool, tot lot, on-site management services coordinators, video surveillance for safety measures, and free Wi-Fi in common areas.
Maricopa County continues to address the affordable housing crisis by providing practical solutions. Further information is available at Maricopa.gov/Housing.
