On February 20, 2025, Gallego announced via Twitter that he was introducing ten amendments to the Republican budget resolution. He stated, "Tonight I’m introducing 10 amendments to the Republican budget resolution. I’m pushing to put senators on the record when it comes to lowering costs, securing the border, safeguarding national security, and protecting our natural resources. Let’s see if they'll get a vote…"

According to Gallego's tweet, "Last night we introduced amendment after amendment to lower costs for Americans and protect Medicaid, Medicare and Social Security. Senate Republicans voted down EVERY. SINGLE. ONE."
