Forbes has recognized Maricopa County as one of Arizona's top employers in its annual "Best Employers" list. This list is compiled based on a nationwide survey conducted by Forbes, where employees evaluate their workplaces and organizations they are familiar with.
Maricopa County Manager Jen Pokorski commented on the recognition, stating it highlights the county's commitment to creating an excellent workplace for its employees. "Maricopa County is made up of dedicated professionals whose work helps make our community better," said Pokorski. She emphasized the county's dedication to offering competitive pay, work-life balance, career growth opportunities, and valuable benefits such as low-cost healthcare choices, childcare benefits, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, and wellness programs.
The survey was conducted in partnership with market research firm Statistica and included responses from over 160,000 employees working at companies with at least 500 people. The results were used to rank employers by state.
"Forbes learned what we confirmed in our 2024 Employee Survey: people like working here. 93% of our employees said they were happy working at Maricopa County," stated Human Resources Director Emily Parish. She added that the county will continue to seek ways to maintain a supportive work environment for its staff.
Maricopa County employs over 14,000 individuals across approximately 50 lines of business. In addition to being named a Best-in-State Employer by Forbes in 2024, the county received 75 Achievement Awards from the National Association of Counties (NACo) and was ranked as the nation's top county by Site Selection Magazine for success in community and economic development.
