Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) has announced the launch of its second bachelor's degree program, a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) with an emphasis in Accounting. This initiative, starting in Fall 2025, aims to address the national shortage of accountants and provide more career opportunities for students.
Dr. Jana Schwartz, PVCC President, expressed enthusiasm about the new program: “We’re excited to offer this pathway and expand options for our diverse student body. By equipping our students with the skills and knowledge needed for high-demand careers, we’re creating opportunities that not only transform individual lives but also strengthen the economic vitality of our region.”
The BBA in Accounting will offer a comprehensive education covering financial reporting, taxation, auditing, and compliance. The program is designed to prepare graduates for roles in public accounting firms, government agencies, and corporations. Virtual learning options are available to accommodate students who have other commitments.
Lynn F. Clark, CPA and program director for Accounting at PVCC, highlighted the importance of accountants in today’s business environment: “Accountants are essential in today’s complex business landscape, given the increasing need for accurate financial reporting and compliance with financial regulations.” She added that the program addresses critical workforce needs while benefiting individuals and businesses alike.
The new bachelor's degree builds on PVCC’s existing associate degree in Accounting. The associate program offers tracks in tax or accounting and credentials like Enrolled Agent (EA) or Certified Bookkeeper (CB).
This bachelor’s program reflects PVCC's commitment to providing affordable degrees aligned with workforce demands. It follows Arizona’s SB 1453 legislation allowing community colleges to offer bachelor’s degrees in high-demand fields.
Applications for the BBA in Accounting open in Spring 2025. PVCC is coordinating with Arizona universities to support transfer pathways and further education opportunities.
