Moms for Liberty has endorsed Sandra Jerez in her race for a seat on the Roosevelt School District (RSD) No. 66 Governing Board. Early voting began on October 9 and extends through November 1 for the November 5 general election.
Jerez is running for RSD Governing Board alongside Tatiana Peña and Christianne Ortega. One of their top priorities is fiscal responsibility, ensuring that taxpayers' money is used responsibly to pay teachers competitive salaries and recruit quality educators, according to their campaign website.
Another focus is placing an emphasis on academic achievement as well as transparency, keeping parents apprised of and involved in what their children are learning. A third priority is school safety and security.
"As parents and taxpayers, we deserve better performing Roosevelt schools," Ortega, Jerez, and Peña said. "While we have made some positive changes, there is still so much more work to be done in improving the quality of our children’s education."
Per the RSD No. 66 Governing Board's website, the Board comprises five members who are elected to four-year terms.
Moms for Liberty is a parental-rights-in-education advocacy group founded by Tiffany Justice and Tina Descovich, two former school board members. According to their website, "Moms for Liberty is dedicated to fighting for the survival of America by unifying, educating and empowering parents to defend their parental rights at all levels of government."
