Paradise Valley Community College (PVCC) is honoring former student Alexis Fritz in its first art exhibit of the fall 2024 semester. "A Tribute," running through October 6, 2024, showcases a collection of Fritz’s paintings and sculptures, alongside works from her teachers and fellow students.

Fritz’s colleagues are hosting a reception from 5:30 to 6:30 PM on August 28 in PVCC’s Center for Performing Arts. The event provides an opportunity for the community to honor and reflect on the life and work of Fritz, who was known for her talent, passion for art, and deep connections with those around her.

“Her love for the ocean and its life was evident in all her creations. She was not just an artist but a beacon of creativity and kindness," said David L. Bradley, PVCC art faculty member and curator of the exhibition. "Her sudden passing is a profound loss, but through this exhibit, we aim to celebrate her life, her art, and the indelible mark she left on all of us."

Fritz earned her Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts from PVCC in 2021, where she discovered her love for working with clay. She continued her artistic journey at Arizona State University, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ceramics in 2023. In February 2024, Fritz returned to PVCC as a guest artist to share her innovative approach to using artificial intelligence (AI) in art. She presented her process of using Midjourney to generate images based on her underwater photography, which served as inspiration for her ceramic sculptures.

Fritz will be dearly missed having left a lasting impact on the PVCC community and the world of art.
