In 1944, Armstrong joined the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League as a pitcher, playing for the South Bend Blue Sox. She continued to support women's sports and remained involved in the local community. Following her time in professional baseball, Armstrong lived a quiet life in Phoenix, where she worked and raised a family.
