City of Phoenix New Year’s Day Holiday Notice

City of Phoenix offices will be closed Monday, January 1, 2024 in observance of the New Year's Day holiday. Here's how City services are affected:  

Solid Waste Collections will not be provided on January 1, 2024 (New Year's Day). All solid waste collections will be pushed back by one day that week, starting with Monday's collections being provided on Tuesday, and ending with Friday's collections being provided on Saturday.  

Transfer Stations: Both the 27th Ave. and North Gateway transfer stations will be closed on Monday, January 1. 

Public Works Customer Contact Center: The Contact Center will be closed on Monday, January 1. It will reopen at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, January 2. Residents can call 602-262-6251. 

Library: All Phoenix Public Library locations are closed on Monday, January 1 in observance of the holiday. Phoenix Public Library book drops and digital/eResources are available 24/7. Visit phoenixpubliclibrary.org for more details. 

Parking Meters: All parking meters are enforced 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, including weekends and holidays.   

Parks and Recreation Facilities: City of Phoenix Community centers will be closed on Monday, January 1 for the holiday. Parks and trails will be open for regular hours, but please review “Take a Hike. Do it Right." safety guidelines before visiting a trail.    

S'edav Va'aki Museum will be closed on Monday, January 1. 

Public Transit: Both bus and light rail will operate on a Sunday schedule Monday, January 1. There is no Express or RAPID bus service and Customer Service is closed. The following transit centers also are closed: Ed Pastor, Sunnyslope, Metrocenter, and Central Station. Check ValleyMetro.org for schedules. 

Dial-a-Ride service will be available, by reservation, between 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. To learn more about the Dial-a-Ride service, visit Phoenix.gov/dial-a-ride.   

Sky Harbor International Airport: America's Friendliest Airport® continues to see a record numbers of passengers. If flying domestically, arrive at least two hours early. If flying internationally, arrive three hours early. Make sure to leave extra time for parking. Our Sky Harbor Parking program makes it easy to reserve parking up to six months in advance. Enjoy convenient parking options in the terminal garages or an economy parking lot at the 24th Street PHX Sky Train® Station, which is an easy option for travelers who live west or north of the Airport. To avoid traffic congestion, remember there are PHX Sky Train® Stations at 44th and 24th streets that will get passengers to both terminals with ease.
