The Goldwater Institute recently announced a partnership with AAT Education to create a new high school history curriculum focused on U.S. history. According to a press release, the curriculum aims to address the lack of education in American history in many schools and meet the demand from parents for a curriculum that teaches their children about the nation's founding principles.
The collaboration between the Goldwater Institute's Van Sittert Center for Constitutional Advocacy and AAT Education is receiving funding support from The Van Sittert Center for Constitutional Advocacy, as stated in the press release.
The upcoming curriculum, expected to be finalized by 2025, will consist of two semesters and will primarily focus on the history of the United States. The centerpiece of the curriculum will be the book "Land of Hope: An Invitation to the Great American Story," written by lead historian Wilfred McClay. The curriculum has been designed for public, private, and home-based schools and educators who seek an academically rich curriculum that is free from revisionism or radical political activism.
In a statement, AAT Education CEO Ted Rebarber expressed gratitude for the support and partnership from the Goldwater Institute's Van Sittert Center, emphasizing the importance of effectively transmitting the most important elements of American history to the next generation.
Lead historian Wilfred McClay highlighted the significance of understanding and cherishing the history of the United States. He emphasized that the recovery of civic knowledge is closely tied to a recovery of the nation's history and the memory of those who fought for freedom and shaped the country's institutions.
The Goldwater Institute, founded in 1988 in Arizona, is a policy research organization dedicated to protecting the individual rights and freedoms of the American people. According to their website, their focus areas include education, free speech, healthcare, and promoting limited government, economic freedom, and individual liberty.
With this new partnership and curriculum development, the Goldwater Institute and AAT Education aim to provide a comprehensive and academically rigorous U.S. history curriculum that will equip high school students with a deep understanding of the nation's founding principles and historical significance.
