City of Phoenix Christmas and New Year’s Day Holiday Notice

City of Phoenix issued the following announcement on Dec. 22.

City of Phoenix offices will be closed, Friday, Dec. 24, in observance of the Christmas holiday. City offices will also be closed on Friday, Dec. 31, 2020, in observance of New Year's Day.

Here's how city services are affected:

Solid Waste: With the Christmas holiday and New Year's Day falling on non-service days, trash and recycling collection will not be impacted. 

Free holiday tree and wreath disposal! Drop off your live tree or wreath between Sunday, Dec. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 8 at a designated Phoenix Park or at one of the Public Works Department's Transfer Stations. For the complete list of locations, visit phoenix.gov/publicworks/recycling/christmas-tree-recycling. *No plastic trees or wreaths will be accepted.

Transfer Stations: The 27th Avenue and North Gateway Transfer Stations will be closed Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25, in observance of the Christmas holiday, and will be closed Friday, Dec. 31 and Saturday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year's Day.

Public Transit: On Friday, Dec. 24, bus and rail will operate on a Sunday schedule and there is no RAPID or Express service. On Saturday, Dec. 25, service will operate on a Saturday schedule. Customer Service will be open Dec. 24 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (MetroCenter, Sunnyslope, Ed Pastor, and Central Station transit stations will be closed), and all customer service will be closed Dec. 25.

On Friday, Dec. 31, New Year's Eve, service will operate on a Sunday schedule and there is no RAPID or Express service. Valley Metro Rail service will be extended to 2 a.m. and from 7 p.m. to the end of service, Valley Metro service is free of charge. On Saturday, Jan. 1, service will operate on a Saturday schedule. Customer Service will be open Dec. 31 from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. and closed Jan 1.

Dial-a-Ride: On Friday, Dec. 24 & Saturday, Dec. 25, Dial-a-Ride service will operate on their holiday schedule and will be available, by reservation, between 4 a.m. to 12 a.m.

Library: All Phoenix Public Library locations are open Friday, Dec. 24 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 25 in observance of the Christmas holiday. Phoenix Public Library book drops remain available.

Parks and Recreation Community Centers: All Phoenix Parks and Recreation community centers will be closed Friday, Dec. 24 and Saturday, Dec. 25. Parks and trails remain available. *Select parking areas may be restricted.

Parking Meters: All parking meters are enforced 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, including weekends and holidays.
