Cost of college went down for all students at Arizona State University-West

In-state tuition and fees fell 4.5 percent for 2018-19 at Arizona State University-West, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Arizona residents paid $9,840 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $461 less than the $10,301 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 159.9 percent more than residents this year, or $25,576. Their price tag was reduced 1.8 percent from $26,038 in 2017-18.

About 76 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Arizona residents. About 20 percent are residents of other states and 4 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 95 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 474 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.7 million and 161 students took out student loans totaling more than $872,466.

Including all undergraduates (4,445), 2,787 students used grants or scholarships totaling $24.2 million, and 1,730 students took out $11.7 million in federal student loans.
