Three members, who are a part of President Donald Trump's advising group, are lawmakers in Arizona and will help the president make decisions on how to restart the country's economy.
Two Arizona senators and one House member are a part of the White House's Congressional Economic Recovery Task Force, which consists of advisers to help the president figure out how to take the nation from being shutdown to reopening, according to AZ Central. The task force will also be focusing on how to prevent a second wave of COVID-19 from taking place once the economy reopens.
Senators Kyrsten Sinema and Martha McSally will be part of the task force with Rep. Andy Biggs of Arizona, according to AZ Central.
"I am happy to serve on the bipartisan White House task force focused on economic recovery from the coronavirus pandemic," Sinema said in on Twitter. "We’ll work with anyone to provide support for AZ state and local leaders."
McSally also said she was looking forward to balancing economic needs and health concerns, according to AZ Central.
"Honored to be named to (Trump's) bipartisan task force to plan our country’s path forward," McSally said in a statement. "I'll take [Arizona] concerns and ideas straight to the task force to inform a strong economic recovery that benefits Arizona’s families and businesses while prioritizing the safety of all citizens."
Biggs said Trump has seen great results in the past and is confident he will see the same when restoring the economy, according to AZ Central.
"The Trump administration’s pro-growth policies were paying dividends for millions of American individuals, families and businesses," Biggs said in a statement. "As we pivot from a shutdown of our economy due to the coronavirus outbreak, it’s important to keep the president’s track record of tremendous results in mind as we move to restore the economy to its former brilliance. President Trump believes in the American people to be the masters of their own economic destinies, as do I."
Biggs has gained national attention recently when he told Anthony Fauci, the federal government's infectious disease expert, to "move along" and let the nation reopen its economy, AZ Central reports.
Trump's task force has 65 senators in the GOP-controlled chamber and has every Republican senator except Sen. Mitt Romney, who made a poor relationship with Trump when he voted in favor of impeachment, according to AZ Central. There are 32 House members on the committee and 22 are Republican.
