Ottawa University-Phoenix issued the following announcement on March 26
The NAIA released its women's basketball All-American teams earlier Tuesday, and a familiar OUAZ name popped up on yet another postseason honors list. Guard Natasa Radovic earned an Honorable Mention from the NAIA, the only freshman to be a part of the 2020 All-Americans list.
It is not hard to see why she earned the nomination, as she was the first player in OUAZ to average a double-double. Her 17.4 points and 10.1 rebounds led the Spirit, with her point average the third most in the Golden State Athletic Conference, and her rebound average ranking second in the conference.
Not only did her numbers shine in the conference ranks, but they sparkled at the national level as well. She finished third in the NAIA in free throw percentage, converting 89.2% at the line. She also sat in the top 20 in total rebounds per game (11th), offensive rebounds per game (3.8, 15th) and defensive rebounds per game (6.3, 19th).
The Honorable Mention is just another item to add to Radovic's long list of accomplishments in her freshman season. She was named to the GSAC All-Conference team, the NCCAA All-American First Team and the NCCAA West Region Player of the Year. All postseason honors Radovic has earned are program firsts.
"Really proud of Natasa getting NAIA All-American Honorable Mention," Spirit head coach Stephen Moss said. "She definitely earned it through her hard work and dedication. Although she is only a freshman, she lead our team by example throughout the entire season."
The future is looking bright as the Spirit begin the offseason with a lot of good news. The interim tag was removed from Moss, as he was given the full reigns of the women's basketball program as head coach on Tuesday. With Radovic's second season on the horizon and a packed incoming recruiting class, the Spirit look to build off a record-breaking season come next year.
