When it comes to scouting, Monti Ossenfort speaks passionately about the subject. The Cardinals’ General Manager was once a scout, understanding the life scouts lead as they spend extensive time on the road, away from family, evaluating potential players. This understanding is one reason the Cardinals have created the Rod Graves Scouting Award. Named after the former Cardinals General Manager, the award is annually given to a team scout who exemplifies passion, drive, resilience, and provides strong evaluations.
In 2025, the honor was awarded to Zach Devlin, an area scout who has been with the organization since 2017. Devlin started as a scouting assistant and has risen through the ranks, currently covering the Northeast region after having previously scouted the Southwest area.
“Zach was particularly deserving because of the growth he has shown this year through multiple challenges,” said Ossenfort. “He has a high care factor and is willing to do whatever is necessary in his role to help the team be successful. Scouting can be a thankless job, but Zach has attacked his role and put us in a good position to add several prospects who are talented on the field and have the intangibles we want off the field. I know Zach will continue to push to improve his own process and bring value to our team.”
Devlin’s connection to the Cardinals predates his current position. His father, Mike Devlin, was an offensive lineman for Arizona from 1996-99 and later served as an assistant coach from 2000-2003.
