Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who won her seat in 2024 by defeating Jeff Zink with 70.9% of the vote, has raised concerns on social media about federal oversight and the review of sensitive Department of Justice files.

On February 11, 2026, Ansari wrote, “When Trump assigns @SecRubio to other federal roles, he blurs the line between oversight and those being overseen—compromising agency independence. Today, I introduced a bill to prohibit senior federal officials from carrying out the duties of multiple federal positions.”

The following day, she provided updates regarding her involvement in reviewing unredacted documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. On February 12, Ansari stated, “Headed into DOJ now to review the unredacted Epstein Files. After yesterday’s disgraceful performance by @AGPamBondi, it’s more important than ever that we double down. We’re going to see the documents ourselves and keep fighting for justice for Epstein’s victims.”

Later that same day, Ansari reported on her experience at the Department of Justice: “We’re aware we’re being monitored while reviewing the unredacted Epstein Files at Trump’s DOJ. What I saw today was deeply disturbing, and it raises even more questions about the rich & powerful people who enabled and committed these heinous crimes.”

Ansari’s public statements come as part of ongoing debates about agency independence and transparency in high-profile investigations. Her victory in 2024 over Jeff Zink established her as a significant figure within Congress.
