Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2024, has recently used her social media platform to speak on issues related to transgender rights and women’s health.
On March 31, 2026, Ansari marked Trans Day of Visibility with a message addressing actions by former President Donald Trump and his administration. She stated, “On Trans Day of Visibility, I want to reaffirm that no matter what Donald Trump and his Administration try to do to erase trans rights—we’ll keep fighting back for trans, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people across the country. You’re seen and you’re loved.”
Earlier that day, Ansari reflected on her personal experience with period pain in a post referencing an article she authored for TIME Magazine. She wrote on March 31: “When I passed out from period pain on the floor of a bodega in 2015, I was 23-years-old and terrified that asking for time off would hurt my career. But now, I’m a member of Congress with the power to do something about it. Read my piece in @TIME to learn about my new https://t.co/axBcytpbeM”
A day earlier, on March 30, Ansari shared another post without additional commentary: https://t.co/9pVQud6Jhp
Ansari became a member of Congress after defeating Jeff Zink in the general election held in 2024 by securing over 70% of the vote.
