Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who represents Phoenix and won her seat in 2024 by defeating Jeff Zink with 70.9% of the vote, used her social media platform on January 27, 2026, to highlight community opposition to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presence in Phoenix and to mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day.
In a post published at 18:49 UTC, Ansari wrote, “People from all communities in Phoenix made it clear last night: we DO NOT need ICE in our city. We DO NOT want ICE in our city.”
Later that evening at 20:29 UTC, she shared details about a demonstration, stating, “We’re marching from the Zipps on Central to the ICE Field Office downtown. Proud of our community for showing up and demanding ICE out of our neighborhoods.”
Ansari also addressed International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27 at 22:12 UTC, posting, “On International Holocaust Remembrance Day and every day, we must confront antisemitism wherever it appears and refuse to let history be forgotten. We honor the six million Jewish lives murdered by the Nazi regime and recommit to never again.”
Ansari’s public stance comes after her significant electoral victory over Jeff Zink in 2024 general elections, where she secured nearly three-quarters of the vote.
