Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who represents her district after winning the 2024 general election against Jeff Zink with 70.9% of the vote, has used her social media platform to address several pressing national and international issues.
On January 14, 2026, Ansari posted a statement criticizing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and former President Donald Trump’s immigration policies. She wrote, “.@ICEgov is a rogue agency, weaponized by Donald Trump to terrorize communities. I’m introducing the ICE Slush Fund Elimination Act to take back the $170 billion Trump dumped into ICE through his so-called Big Beautiful Bill.”
Later that day, Ansari addressed concerns about housing affordability in the United States. In a tweet dated January 14, 2026, she stated, “Housing is way too expensive. Trump’s cuts to federal housing assistance and the GOP’s lack of action is exacerbating the crisis. Watch @USProgressives discuss real solutions on YouTube now https://t.co/7AdWS5h9su?”
In another post on January 14, 2026, Ansari turned her attention to international human rights issues. She expressed support for those protesting in Iran and thanked several congressional colleagues for their efforts in condemning actions by the Iranian government: “The Iranian people are risking their lives for human rights and freedom. I’m grateful to @virginiafoxx, @RepDeborahRoss, @RepBrianFitz, @jahimes, @RepBice, @RepMikeCarey, and @RepSchneider for joining me in leading Congress to condemn the brutality of the Islamic Republic.”
Ansari’s recent statements come as she continues her tenure following a decisive victory over Jeff Zink in the 2024 general election.
