Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who represents her district after winning the 2024 general election against Jeff Zink with 70.9% of the vote, has recently addressed immigration policy and international engagement in a series of posts on social media.
On February 12, 2026, Ansari announced legislative efforts targeting Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) funding. She stated, “My DRAIN ICE Act would repeal the $75B slush fund Trump and Republicans gave ICE. A majority of Americans back it. Dozens of Members of Congress have signed on since last week. This is the moment to get on the right side of history.”
The following day, Ansari shared her plans to attend an international security conference. On February 13, she wrote, “Heading to the @MunSecConf. It’s important that the world sees that Trump does not define the United States, and that there is a stronger, more principled path forward grounded in partnership and a new generation stepping up to lead. Will share updates over the weekend!”
Later on February 13, Ansari highlighted concerns about U.S. immigration policy under former President Donald Trump, particularly regarding protections for immigrants known as Dreamers—individuals brought to the country as children who are eligible for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). She posted: “Since Donald Trump took office, we’ve seen relentless cruel, un-American attacks on immigrants, and that includes Dreamers. Here’s a helpful guide for DACA recipients about renewal and please know that our office is always ready to help you with this process “
Ansari’s remarks come amid ongoing debates in Congress over immigration enforcement funding and protections for undocumented youth. The DRAIN ICE Act she referenced seeks to address what she describes as excessive appropriations provided during Trump’s administration—a period marked by heightened immigration enforcement measures.
In November 2024, Yassamin Ansari was elected to Congress after defeating Jeff Zink by a wide margin in her district’s general election.
