Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, who represents her district after a decisive victory in the 2024 general election, posted several statements on her social media account on January 8, 2026. Her posts addressed U.S. foreign policy and immigration enforcement.

On January 8, Ansari expressed support for an unspecified initiative by stating “Count me in.” (posted at 03:09 UTC).

Later that day, she commented on legislative efforts regarding U.S. involvement in Venezuela. In a tweet from January 8 at 17:40 UTC, she wrote “.@SenTimKaine’s resolution to halt Trump’s war in Venezuela is absolutely critical. Trump’s unhinged actions motivated even a few Republicans to support — this is a HUGE first step towards Senate passage. I am ready to work with anyone, Democrat or Republican, to stop US”.

In another post later that evening (18:56 UTC), Ansari criticized U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the death of a U.S. citizen allegedly denied medical care while in custody. She stated “ICE murdered a U.S. citizen—allegedly blocking her from medical care and letting her die.

I’m introducing a package of legislation to rein in ICE, and joining as an original cosponsor on articles of impeachment against @DHSgov @KristiNoem.”

Ansari secured her seat in Congress after defeating Jeff Zink with over 70% of the vote during the November 2024 general election.
