Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari, a U.S. Representative who won her seat in 2024 with over 70% of the vote, posted several messages on May 11, 2026 addressing topics from heritage celebrations to immigration policy.
In her first post of the day, Ansari recognized Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month: “It’s Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! We celebrate the contributions, cultures, and rich histories of the AANHPI community that shapes our country for the better.” (May 11, 2026).
Later that afternoon during a visit to Florida as part of an official delegation with Oversight Democrats at the Orange County Jail in Orlando, Ansari commented on local immigration enforcement practices: “I’m in Orlando today with @OversightDems at the Orange County Jail. You may not hear as much about ICE in Florida. Here, there is quiet and sinister compliance, and deep, corrupt ties to big donors and Desantis’ pals. Here’s why.” (May 11, 2026).
In a subsequent message posted later that evening regarding federal immigration policy under previous administrations she wrote: “This is disgusting and should never have happened. Donald Trump and Stephen Miller’s inhumane mass deportation agenda has already torn too many families apart, ended too many lives.” (May 11, 2026).
Ansari secured her congressional seat by defeating Jeff Zink in the general election held in November 2024 with a significant margin—receiving approximately 71 percent of votes cast.
