Trey McBride, tight end for the Arizona Cardinals, has been nominated for the FedEx Ground and Air Player of the Year award. This recognition comes after a season in which McBride set an NFL record for catches by a tight end with 126, finishing second overall in receptions across the league. He also achieved career highs with 1,239 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. The 126 receptions mark is now also a franchise record for the Cardinals.
The FedEx Ground and Air Player of the Year award features nine nominees from among quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends. The top vote getter in each category will receive a trophy. Fans are able to cast their votes through February 4 at nfl.com/fedex or via an X (formerly Twitter) poll on the @NFL official handle.
Other nominees include Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Patriots quarterback Drake Maye, Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, 49ers running back Christian McCaffery, Falcons running back Bijan Robinson, Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, and Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
The Arizona Cardinals are recognized as the oldest continuously operating professional football franchise in the United States. The team originated in 1898 as a Chicago-based athletic club and currently represents the Phoenix region while playing home games in Glendale as part of the NFC West division official website. NFL Honors will take place on the Thursday before Super Bowl week, concluding this year’s award season.
